Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) has unveiled its latest addition to the packaging print market—the Cartonmaster CX 145—during its 175th anniversary celebrations in Wiesloch-Walldorf, Germany. The new very large format (VLF) press targets high-volume folding carton production, especially in the food, beverage, and consumer goods sectors.
The CX 145, classified in format class 6 (105 × 145 cm), marks a strategic expansion of HEIDELBERG’s packaging portfolio. It was announced as part of a broader showcase at the company’s newly rebranded customer demonstration center, the “Home of Print.” The center, now billed as the largest of its kind in the industry, hosted over 1,500 guests for a week-long series of events.

“This system plugs a significant gap in our portfolio and aligns with growing demand in packaging,” a company spokesperson said. The new press will be integrated into HEIDELBERG’s Prinect ecosystem alongside other production components, aiming to streamline end-to-end workflows.
Also on display is the Mastermatrix CSB 106 die cutter, which runs at speeds of up to 9,000 sheets per hour. First introduced at drupa 2024, it will now be featured at the Home of Print in HEIDELBERG branding.
Jürgen Otto, CEO of HEIDELBERG, addressed the international audience during the event: “A warm welcome to HEIDELBERG and a warm welcome to our Home of Print, the printing industry’s largest customer experience center anywhere in the world.”
Bertram Kawlath, President of the VDMA Association, commented: “175 years of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen stand for outstanding innovative strength and unparalleled customer focus.”
The Home of Print spans 9,000 square meters and serves as a full-spectrum showcase of HEIDELBERG’s systems in packaging, commercial, and label printing. The center supports over 1,000 custom demos annually, often based on live print jobs brought in by customers. A team of 120 in-house experts assist with setup, training, and testing.
In parallel, the company continues to invest in digital printing. The Jetfire 50 platform now supports postpress integration with C.P. Bourg and Tecnau. HEIDELBERG also introduced its Stahlfolder Fireline solution earlier this year to handle inline and nearline folded output in conjunction with the Jetfire system.
With its latest product launches and expanded demonstration capabilities, HEIDELBERG aims to position itself more firmly as a full-scope supplier for the packaging sector.
